Command Alkon and Bullimores’ Digital Transformation.
Command Alkon broadens their partnership with Bullimores, a company specialising in supplying aggregates for all infrastructure and construction requirements, to modernise their operations. The collaboration began after interacting at the BAA industry meetings, leading to Chris Bullimore inviting Command Alkon to explore how their technology could enhance Bullimores' operations.
Bullimores initially operated with an outdated legacy system and primarily relied on Excel spreadsheets software. Bullimores' business is divided into two main operations: involving quarrying and merchanting aggregates, which involves purchasing stone from various suppliers and delivering it to customers across wide geographic areas.
Apex proved to be an ideal solution for managing both aspects of Bullimores' operations. Using the dispatch module within Apex, Bullimores could efficiently allocate vehicles to jobs and assign tasks to specific vehicles. However, this allocation process was initially manual, as job details were given to drivers via email or message.
The implementation journey with Bullimores began in 2018 with the deployment of Apex, which has served them well for six years. Now, they are preparing to integrate additional Command Alkon solutions: robust, server-based process control system.
This next phase aims to digitise and automate job allocations using ePOD (electronic proof of delivery) solutions. With this enhancement, Bullimores will be able to instantly transmit job schedules to drivers’ devices. Drivers will log into their tablets to see their next load, significantly reducing administrative overhead and improving operational efficiency. This digital transformation also provides real-time visibility of vehicle locations, enabling better fleet management and customer service through digital ticketing and PDF sign-offs accessible via an online portal.
Training and support are critical components of Command Alkon’s implementation strategy. In today's digital age, much of the training and project scoping can be conducted online. However, Command Alkon emphasizes the importance of face-to-face interactions to ensure a smooth transition. Before going live with the Apex installation, Command Alkons team spent time on-site, working closely with Bullimores’ staff across various departments to ensure everyone understood, this has enabled the teams to continue to work remote implementing the digital products.
The go-live phase is supported on-site to address any immediate issues and ensure a seamless transition. Post implementation, new users are typically trained by existing staff, with additional online support available as needed. This approach ensures that Bullimores’ team remains proficient in using the software, maintaining high levels of efficiency and productivity.
Command Alkon also provides 24/7 support for APEX, TrackIt, and Mobile Ticket through dedicated service departments. Users can reach out for assistance via a single phone number, ensuring they get the help they need.
In summary, Command Alkon's partnership with Bullimores exemplifies the transformative power of modern software solutions in traditional industries. By modernizing their operations with Apex and integrating with TrackIt and Mobile Ticket, Bullimores has significantly enhanced their efficiency, productivity, and customer service, setting a strong foundation for future growth and success.
