The Challenge
A common challenge that occurs in many ready mix
operations is the lack of visibility into the properties
of their fresh concrete during the delivery cycle.
There's a plethora of things that can go wrong from
the time the materials are produced until they are
placed, and having insight into an issue enables
producers to take action before the issue becomes a
disaster.
The Solution
Wayne Davis signed on with Command Alkon's
concrete telematics solution, Load Assurance, to
gain insight into the properties of their fresh concrete
while in transit to their customer.
The solution analyzes and communicates slump,
temperature, volume, water additions, W/C ratio,
drum rotation, and direction for each and every load
to the driver, production, dispatch, and quality control
personnel. This solution improves their operations
because having real-time concrete property data
from the drum ensures fewer rejected loads, less
time spent product testing, and more flexibility for
reuse of concrete left in the drum. Their goal was to
offset the cost of the Load Assurance product with a
reduction of lost loads and time savings.
