Why Track It with TrackIt? Gain Power Over Your Product

The addition of water to concrete on the jobsite is one of the biggest pains that a ready mix producer can endure.

Concrete is one of the few building materials whose quality and performance characteristics can be imperiled after the product is transported from the manufacturing facility.

A huge amount of work is taken to develop the proportions of concrete mixtures to achieve desired performance characteristics such as compressive strength and resistance to damage from freezing and thawing, exposure to sulfates, and corrosion. These performance characteristics may become vulnerable with additions of water above the design limitations.

On many jobsites, the addition of water is at the discretion of the finishers, whose concerns for in-place concrete durability and strength are often swept aside in favor of ease and speed of placement. Unfortunately, this puts the producer at risk for product liability problems and unjust replacement costs.

Think about your own operations – as a ready mix producer, how often is the blame for out of spec materials placed on your business, when it is actually the jobsite personnel’s mistake?

The best way to combat this problem is to ensure you still have power over your product, even after it has been loaded and on the way to the jobsite. How? By utilizing a solution that can provide an accurate, real-time record of the amount of water that it added to the materials when it is no longer in your hands.

The Water Add Meter (WAM), which can be purchased as an option in conjunction with the TrackIt, TFleet, or COMMANDassurance systems, measures the amount of water added before and during the pour to help validate concrete quality.

The meter can capture and report the amount of water added to the materials in real time, as well as provide an accurate historical report of all of the water that was added into the mix. This insight liberates the producer from combatting false claims from customers.

When further integrated with COMMANDbatch, Command Alkon’s ready mix plant automation solution, the Water Add Meter allows for calculation of W/C ratio throughout the delivery cycle. The meter comes packaged with plumbing kit, fittings, clamps, and a step-by-step installation guide.

Two models are available. The WAM-350 allows water addition information to be read directly on the meter on easy-to-read display or on in-cab display. The WAM-300 has the same functionality as the 350 model but without the digital display on the meter.
