Safely Improving the Supply Chain
In the heavy building materials industry, the risk of injury is high. From those who work in the quarries to those who construct the places where we live, work, and play; we applaud you, and we want to keep you safe.
Our goal is to help our customers’ operations run to their maximized efficiency, but we also truly care about our customers – reducing the amount of injuries in aggregate and concrete operations is important to us.
Sprained Backs, Broken Wrists, Eye Injuries? – No Time for That
The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association issued a safety bulletin in January to promote best practices when lifting heavy objects and moving materials. According to the NSSGA, 37 percent of all injuries in aggregates operations are due to handling materials. Some automation technologies can help combat this problem. With Apex, part of the CONNEX Fulfillement Suite, operations are streamlined and drivers never have to leave their trucks and risk an injury while in the yard. When it comes to aggregate operations, we try our best to keep our customers safe; we’re also conscientious of safety when it comes to concrete operations.
Inconvenience Plus Risk? – Not a Good “Mix”
With ready mix drivers being responsible for ensuring the slump of a batch once loaded in the drum of the truck, they often have to climb on and off of the slump stand or truck to add more water to the mix. Not only is this inconvenient for the driver, but it causes a risk for injury as well. COMMANDassurance, part of the CONNEX Logistics Suite, offers real-time visibility in to the properties of the fresh concrete. The probe feeds this data back to the driver, reducing the risk of climbing up the side of the truck to eyeball the product.
We All Hold a Piece of the Puzzle
In this industry, we work together to get the job done. Suppliers, Producers, Haulers, and Contractors – we each play a role in something much bigger. Command Alkon aims to improve safety during your everyday operations so that we can work efficiently and continue to build amazing together.
