Women Building Amazing: Kristy Wolfe

July 26, 2019 Karli Langner

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve released a new segment of “Women Building Amazing,” (formally “Building Amazing Women”). Why? Well, there’s been a few developments in the works, aside from the new name change.

Women in construction is a buzzworthy topic that has taken the industry by storm. Several large corporations, as well as smaller businesses have developed initiatives to highlight the women in their organizations and their leadership in the industry.

We’ve had some time to take a look at what other people are doing, and decided that our own series needed to undergo a transformation to deliver more value to our audience. We’ve really tried to mine deep into the issues that players in construction truly care about when it comes to female representation and reducing gender disparity in the industry.

Our first victim for our reimagined series is Kristy Wolfe. Kristy has been an Assistant Professor at Bradley University since 2008 and currently serves as the faculty advisor for Bradley’s Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) and on the steering committee for the Women in Mechanical Industry Initiative.

I reached out to Kristy after I attended a session that she taught at World of Concrete on Lean Construction Concepts. Kristy brings a unique set of skills to her speaking engagements with a combination of academia and field experience gained as a facilities engineer with Caterpillar and serving with the United States Army Corps of Engineers. I thoroughly enjoyed her session and wanted to get her involved with “Women Building Amazing.”

Can’t get enough of Kristy? Neither can I. That’s why I’m bringing her back in November for ELEVATE – Construction’s Heavy Work Conference. She’ll be participating on the panel for our “Women in Construction: Hiring, Retaining, and Mentoring for Success” PowerTalk session in the Lasting Leadership track. She will also be conducting her own PowerTalk session on “Improving Productivity with Lean Concepts” in the Buzzworthy Initiatives track. You don’t want to miss out on either!

Be sure to browse our “Industry Voices” stream to check out all of the amazing women we’ve had the opportunity of speaking with.

And don’t forget to register for ELEVATE – Construction’s Heavy Work Conference. A limited number of registrations are currently available at an “Early Bird” rate. Register now to claim one. More details about the conference are available at theheavyworkconference.com/.
