3 | Embark Throughout my career, I have learned that taking time to be thankful can change one's perspective and brighten those around them. Whether the year has been full of joy or unexpected challenges, reminding ourselves what there is to be thankful for can be rewarding. I am so thankful to you, our customers. Our mission is to bring people and technology together to advance the heavy building materials industry, and your partnership helps us to make strides towards improving the way that the people who build our world conduct business. Whether you've been with us for 40+ years or just a few months, we thank you for your business. For us, this year has been about getting back to the basics by clarifying our focus as a company. This can be remembered as our "1-2-3-4 approach." We are one united, global company with two listening ears that serves three core markets (ready mix, aggregates, and asphalt) by delivering value through four product suites. Over the last year, we have worked to make active listening – two listening ears – a tenet of our culture to strengthen relationships internally and externally. I acknowledge the challenges we're all facing – rising costs, a rapidly changing financial climate and a looming recession. This, paired with productivity and workforce challenges can seem daunting at times. There are many uncertainties right now, but there's one thing you can count on: we promise to listen and work with you to figure out how we can help you address these challenges. To me, listening isn't just about hearing words; listening is seeking to be changed by the other person. We want to understand the most pressing priorities in your business and share our deep product, industry, and technical knowledge to help you overcome the challenges and uncertainties that are thrown your way. We are so grateful you have chosen us as your partner. Your success is our success, and without your trust and support, we would not be who we are today. This special issue of Embark came together quickly as we asked experts and leaders to offer their insights on navigating through obstacles and change, and what you can expect from Command Alkon to help you do just that. I hope these perspectives give you strategies to use in your own life and business. We want to continue to be a resource to the heavy building materials community, not only through this magazine but through events, blogs, webinars, resources for best practices, and more. As always, we would love to hear from you about people and ideas you would like to see us cover in the future. Thank you, Martin Willoughby Command Alkon | CEO A Letter From Martin Willoughby Martin Willoughby Command Alkon | CEO Your success is our success, and without your trust and support, we would not be who we are today.
