29 | Embark More and more companies are turning to telematics and transportation management solutions as an effective way to manage their fleets within limited budgets. When properly implemented, these systems can generate positive results in many areas, including driver safety, productivity and transportation optimization, and lower operational expenses. Promote a Safe Fleet If you are able to control drivers' performance and reduce the amount of risk in your fleet, then you can reduce your chances of having to pay for replacing vehicles, unnecessary vehicle repairs, accident costs, or worse – a fatality. Some telematics systems include features that can deliver real‐time insights for fleet asset management to improve the health, safety, and performance status of vehicles. This can include remote diagnostics, alerts, action plans, health and safety scoring, and other actionable vehicle information. Some telematics systems can analyze driver habits and integrate that performance data into other business systems, making it easy to review, edit, and document. Fleet managers can be alerted by risky driver behavior, such as speeding, hard braking, and sharp turns. When telematics systems are implemented, fleet managers gain new visibility into outstanding or hidden maintenance issues. Systems like this can provide information about fault codes, helping to prevent small issues from becoming a big repair problem. This feature monitors the health of a company's vehicles, providing an analysis of their status and issues. The user can see what vehicle it is, VIN ID, performance of health, safety issue, odometer, engine hours, and actual location. This information is pulled every few minutes and allows the user to see the SPN code, what the code means, and what could happen if it goes untreated. The value is real‐time decision-making of how to handle truck malfunctions to avoid engine failure. With this insight, the user knows the exact diagnosis so that they can decide what action to take, whether to bring a vehicle back to the Key challenges and trends for construction materials transportation.
