The construction industry is associated with the most dangerous working environments, and employees are often times subjected to health threats when performing hazardous tasks and risky maneuvers. An accident on a construction site can result in a range of troubles: from a minor injury to a lifelong physical impairment or, even worse – death.
More than 70 national and global construction firms comprise The Construction Industry Safety (CISI) group and the Incident and Injury Free CEO (IIF) Forum. Each year, these organizations join forces to inspire everyone in the industry to be leaders in safety by celebrating Safety Week.
The Construction Industry Safety Initiative (CISI) includes twelve major contractors who come together every other year for a two-day meeting to discuss safety. CISI holds a Safety Summit that includes over 30 major contractors in the United States. The goal of CISI is to influence not only those within their group, but others to work safely and elevate safety awareness to a new level in the United States.
This year’s Safety Week started on Monday, May 6 and will continue until Friday, May 10.
Safety is a major initiative that Command Alkon firmly believes in. For an industry that gives so much back to the community, the safety of the individuals that contribute should be of high importance. Through training, awareness, experience, and personal responsibility and ownership, we hope to eliminate job-related injuries and incidents. Check out this blog discussing four ways to promote jobsite safety.
