Benevento Companies' Journey to a Connected Ecosystem

Benevento Companies is a medium-sized, family business that is a vertically integrated construction materials business. The company is led by the grandsons of the founder, who believe in running the business fast with no barriers to technology and decision-making. Benevento has been a long-time customer of Command Alkon, using Integra, Apex, TrackIt, and COMMANDbatch.

Benevento believes in innovating with the customer first, so they have deployed the CONNEX platform. CONNEX is Command Alkon’s new Supplier Collaboration Platform for Construction’s Heavy Work. CONNEX will help Benevoto to create a more connected ecosystem.

The company has extended their development of solutions to reach outward towards their customers. For example, they added their own calendar feature in Apex, giving them the ability to better manage their customers’ daily asphalt ordering process, resulting in greater efficiencies.

Benevento faces constant changes of information on a daily basis, from regulations, to weather, to customer mindset. They are able to share the daily asphalt orders with managers, salespeople, quarry managers, owners, and other executives. They created a custom report of asphalt orders in Apex so that if changes occur, Benevento can see what the changes are and can better prepare for the changes. This has helped them to eliminate the need for salespeople to go back to the office at the end of the day and manually have to type orders into Apex.

Collaboration is Key to Success

Benevento has an evolving partnership with HaulHub, which is also a partner of Command Alkon’s. All three companies work together to make Benevento’s customers smarter, better, faster, and more efficient. With HaulHub, customers create orders on their PC, which flows to the Benevento sales department, which then flows from CONNEX through HaulHub directly into Apex. No more manual typing and double entry of orders!

The company has been able to process 275,000 tons/year to 600,000 tons/year.

Another benefit of the CONNEX, HaulHub, and Benevento integration has been the improved tracking of rental trucks assigned to Benevento customers. There has been improvements in invoicing customers for the use of the trucks; improvements in order accuracy (timing, product requested, mix codes, errors); and improvements in receiving sales reports with real, up-to-the-minute sales activity. The company discovered that they had failed to bill for $12,000 worth of truck rentals.

Through true collaboration, these companies have been able to remove silos and build strong, mutually beneficial relationships to create real tangible value.
